PURPOSE/GOAL

The purpose of the educational offering is to provide, through planned learning situations, knowledge of identified standards of practice for perioperative registered nurses who are preparing for the perioperative nursing certification examination. The goal of this course is to reduce the stress of the exam and develop a study plan to increase the probability of achieving the title CNOR.


OBJECTIVES
  1. Identify the construct of the Certified Nurse of the Operating Room exam.
  2. Describe perioperative nursing interventions to achieve the patient outcome criteria of freedom from injury in the perioperative environment.
  3. Describe perioperative nursing interventions to achieve the patient outcome criteria of freedom from infection in the perioperative environment.
  4. Discuss perioperative patient outcomes related to changes in the physiological and psychological response to surgical intervention.
  5. Apply critical thinking skills in caring for patients with perioperative complications.
  6. Review the Nursing Process in Perioperative Nursing.
  7. List perioperative nursing activities that provide competent, ethical, and legal care of the patient.
  8. Discuss unique nursing test taking strategies.
